The 2022-23 NBA season begins Wednesday October 19 and ESPN will broadcast seven NBA games live across the opening five days of the season. The new campaign kicks off with a double header, live on ESPN, beginning at 10. 30am AEDT, when the Philadelphia 76ers meet the Boston Celtics. The teams with the better win/loss ratio from the regular season will have the advantage of an extra home game. When the Playoff series are played only two teams remains, the winners of the Western and Eastern Conference. Every team gets two picks and the order of who picks first is decided by a draft lottery. All teams that didn’t qualify for the Playoffs in the previous season will be in the lottery, where the four teams with the worst league record will have the best odds (14%) of getting the first pick. The league record is used when deciding the remaining draft order, where the worst team gets the highest position, followed by the second worst team and so on until all 14 teams have got their draft order.
